At its best...Zinfandel, especially Old Vine Zinfandel is a true great expression of California. Zinfandel is California's heritage wine, and is a welcome reminder of this wine's classic profile, intense, explosive aromas of black raspberries, with notes of blackberry and semi-sweet chocolate. Elegant tannins with vibrant berry flavors are complimented by hints of oak and a racy, crisp finish. It's extremely aromatic – full of alluring flavor, herbs, tobacco and licorice, round texture, and it has an unrelenting freshness to it.

While delightful now, this concentrated Zinfandel will continue to develop in the bottle with proper cellaring for another 3-5 years with a plateau of best drinkability from 2020-2026.

growing conditions
The 2017 growing season has a normal mid-march bud break, mild spring/early summer, great fruit set. We experienced near normal rainfall during the season. Nice warm days leading into October led to a near perfect last harvest, with near normal yields.
